Deliverance

hastily penned for Sara, treasured yoga instructor, who has been central during these 6 weeks at home

[quiet promise fulfilled]

Pulling out from the mind,
to know anew the body,
former foe,
forbidding stranger

One voice creates space
that the disjointed, unfocused,
high-strung, unstrung
may cease into calm

Teaching the eye to focus
to stretch hard for peace,
stillness solely from within,
to stop warring against the mind
to allow the body to be

Calling the self to listen
to hear and be healed
to discover its strength,
that stands, that bends, that raises
incredible its rhythm,
like none other

Tuning the ear inward,
pure from the endless external,
exhaling thoughts imposter
what belongs to another,
inhaling that which belongs,
own space for which the body longs.

The utmost patience is to be patient with oneself.
Grace granted to others must be first granted space within.
